11 Apr One Marylebone Wedding – Leanne and Abhi
We’ ve have been looking forward to this One Marylebone wedding for some time. Having attended the venue for a Christmas party and seeing how beautiful it was we were very excited to be asked to cover Leanne and Abhi’s Western ceremony in this wonderful venue opposite Great Portland Street Tube station. Just behind One Marylebone is the Melia White House Hotel where Leanne and her bridesmaids were getting ready. It’s a lovely hotel and one that I almost got into trouble at, as you’ll find out! Leanne’s Father and I went out to find a location for a dress shot, no sooner had we set it up in the corridor than a security guard appeared to check on what we were doing and moved us on. Oh dear. We scuttled back to the room, having got the shot we wanted and carried on shooting ‘Team Leanne’ as they got ready. All of this time Don was with the guests and Abhi who were being treated to a light lunch before the ceremony.
Now One Marylebone is a fabulous venue , the challenge from a photography perspective is that there is no natural light coming into the main hall and we therefore had to introduce flash into our work, particularly from the front of the service. We almost never use flash during a ceremony as we prefer not to draw attention ourselves, but we had no option and when handled sensitively it can be unobtrusive. We love the results. After a very emotional service, the guests went upstairs for drinks, games and fabulous canapés. We stepped out with Leanne and Abhi for their portrait shoot before returning to the main hall for the wedding breakfast, speeches and party.
This was day one of an 8 day celebration that saw us covering 9 amazing events ( the rest will follow as we go through the editing process) and we were honoured to have been involved. If you are planning your own One Marylebone wedding and would like to talk to us about covering your day, please don’t hesitate to contact us. In the mean time, sit back, enjoy the pictures and come back soon for parts 2-8 of this amazing adventure!
