25 Jan Notley Abbey Summer Wedding
Well, this was a stellar wedding and our third Notley Abbey Summer Wedding. But the first to have the ceremony indoors as the weather just wasn’t kind enough and it would have been too chilly to sit outside. So the barn was dressed and became a fabulous substitute location for the service. British summers being what the are, the sun came out after the service and the guests were able to mill around the gardens with their champagne and canapés all afternoon, a true example of Sod’s law if there ever was one!
Our day started quite quietly in the bridal suite which is located overlooking the entrance to the Abbey so we could hear people arriving and greeting each other and it makes for a lovely atmosphere. The barn is pretty dark so we used a small amount of flash to bring the ceremony pictures to life and then we moved outside for the reception. We managed to steal Lisa and Steve away for a lovely portrait session where they could take a breath and look across at their guests who were creating a classic British summer wedding scene. Glorious.
The speeches were particularly touching given the various challenges life had presented on the path to this wonderful wedding day, but there was so much love in the room that although poignant and meaningful the mood was instantly lifted by a fabulous best mans speech. The dancing kicked off and we headed off into the night knowing this wedding was something special and one that will stay with us for some time. We’d love it if you would take the time to look through the pictures and leave a comment.
