Natural, observational, storytelling and fun……… these are words that best describe our documentary wedding photography style . Our approach is primarily as storytellers of your wedding, also termed reportage wedding photography, however we are not ruled by the style and like to introduce a 20 minute portrait session into your day where you can both have a moment alone and we can work quickly with you to create wonderful, intimate portraits that mark what will be one of the most important days of your life. Being passionate about photographing weddings, we work together as a team of two. Generally I will be at the front of the service capturing your vows, whilst Don works different angles from the back of the church to get those fantastic long ailse shots that give a glimpse to the viewer as the wedding unfolds. No two weddings are ever the same and it’s a thrill to be invited to share such a fabulous day. We like to get to know our couples and recommend each take up our offer of a complimentary wedding shoot. Without exception, when we have a bride or groom, or sometimes both, who really don’t like having their photograph taken, they are put at ease at the Pre-Wedding session. It gives us all in sight into each other. We get to see how you interact together and you get to realise that we wont pose you in any way that feels unnatural, nor ask you to do anything cheesy . We will simply and swiftly create situations for you which capture the romance of your day and create amazing images that you will love forever.
Our preference is to work with very fast lenses which enable us to avoid using flash until the sun has finally gone down. We certainly would never use flash during the service as it’s vital that there are no distractions as you make your vows. That’s not to say that should we find ourselves in a dark venue when flash is the only tool available to capture great images of your day, then of course we use it, but in a controlled way to ensure your images look totally natural. Our style is deliberately relaxed; we aim to capture your day as it happens, not as we think it should happen, which means that we won’t interrupt the flow of your wedding. We are documentary wedding photographers and our skill lays in being in the right place at the right time to make sure we work the best angles as we quietly and discretely photograph your day.
As you will see from our portfolio, our style is very relaxed and natural, but hat’s not to say we won’t do group shots, of course we do. No wedding collection would be complete without images of you with key members of your family or with those guests that have made a special trip. We just try to cover them as swiftly as possible and in a less formal style that avoids everyone looking like they are in a line up like the usual suspects ! However if you prefer to have posed formal photography with a large number of formal group shots, then there are lots of brilliant photographers out there who specialise in that style.
