19 Sep Fabulous Pennyhill Park Wedding for Rebecca and Gareth
I’d been hoping for a Pennyhill Park wedding ever since I’d been lucky enough to be treated to a spa weekend there a few years ago, the facilities are lovely and we were delighted when Rebecca and Gareth chose us to cover their Pennyhill Park wedding day this summer. Hopefully you’ll remember Rebecca and Gareth from the Borough Market pre-wedding shoot that took place earlier in the spring, which was a lovely warm, dry day and the forecast told us it would be just the same for the wedding, but what do they know? We arrived the night before as we didn’t want the stress of the M25 on the wedding morning. So after a very full English breakfast, we arrived at Pennyhill Park in glorious sunshine. Hotel guests were sunning themselves around the pool and Rebecca and the girls took turns to stand in front of the fans to keep cool (be warned, ask for an aircon’d room if possible)
So, we were 10 mins away from the service when we got word that the stunning outdoor ceremony can’t take place as planned as a storm was coming in. This seemed crazy given that the sunbathers were still outside soaking up the rays. But when they said a storm they meant a storm ! Within 10 mins, the sky turned black and the heavens opened, sending thunder, lightning and hailstones in the middle of the service. Which, after an epic turnaround from the staff with help from the guests, took place in the very lovely Library.
Rained stayed with us on and off until the wedding breakfast, but it did nothing to dampen the excitement and joy of this fabulous Pennyhill Park wedding. They say patience is a virtue and so it proved, once the meal was completed we were blessed with gorgeous late afternoon sunshine and everyone spilled out to the terrace and relaxed in the late evening sun. A hog roast finished off the celebrations and we left everyone to party well into the night.
We’d love to hear from you if you are planning your own Pennyhill Park wedding day. The team there are wonderful and if the sun shines there is the option to have the ceremony outside which is such a lovely added bonus. We’d love to be there with you to capture your day.
Sal and Don x
